First Roses of the Spring 2016

My first vase full of red roses from my rose tree.  It’s loaded with blooms & buds, ready to explode! Looking forward to a wonderful year of roses from this  old tree.

Noticing that the roses around the South Mountain Village were almost always in full Arizona sun, this little rose bush hasn’t had the easiest of times getting started. We, being novices at gardening when we first moved in here 14 yrs ago, and the fact that hubby wanted to give my youngest daughter Roxie, a tree full of roses out her bedroom window…this little rose bush/tree was planted with almost no sun…but last couple of years it has been making up for lost time.

And, being the way of all cut flowers, the inevitable occurred a couple of days later…

And so, the beautiful first roses of spring live on in their wonderful scent as a small portion of potpourri.
