Pin-Up Girls by Alberto Vargas (1896-1982)

Standard

I fell in love with the work of Alberto Vargas many years ago, when out of the blue at a vintage shop in Monterey, California, my husband introduced me to his artwork when we found several of his calendar sheets – from that time until now, they have been in the recesses of my memory. Recently on Pinterest I started a Pin-Up Girl board and these are a few of my favorites.

Something to note about Vargas’ models – They all exude their distinctiveness and beauty of character…so much more than just models in a studio – each one looking you straight in the eye with an honesty that is there to engage the viewer no matter when Mr. Vargas put brush to canvas!

  1. Hello, surprise… we have the same theme! Thank you for the follow. This is to inform you that my poetry blog is a bilingual one. So you may get notices on an Italian one once in a while but an English one will soon follow. I’m doing my best to keep the posts balanced. Keep up the good work, Anna
